What to expect from the land of 10,000 lakes.

Welcome to Minnesota.   Here you’ll find a strong, diverse economy; good career opportunities; excellent schools and health care; and a cosmopolitan arts, entertainment, and sports scene.   Add to that clean air, healthy lifestyles, and friendly people.   Even though it may be cold during the winter months, that doesn’t stop people from enjoying all that Minnesota has to offer.

Climate.

Spring

In April and May, the average temperature is a high 62 / low 41 degrees.   After a cold winter, many Minnesotans can’t wait to get out and enjoy the warm sunshine.   Even yard work can be appealing once the snow melts.

Summer

During June, July, and August, average temperatures run a high 83 / low 60 degrees.   Summer weather can fluctuate with alternately high heat and moderately warm days.   Sail, swim, golf — every warm weather activity is popular here including great cultural events that depend on warm, sunny skies.

Fall

In September, October, and November, average temperatures begin to fall to a high 65 / low 42 degrees.   Cooler weather brings gorgeous fall foliage across the state.   The brilliant red and orange leaves signal the end of summer.   Take a drive, pack a picnic, and don’t forget to bring a sweater.

Winter

December through March brings average high 21 / low 1 degree.   With the cold comes beautiful white snow and more than 10,000 lakes of ice to skate on.   Snowshoeing; cross-country and downhill skiing; snowmobiling; and hockey keep Minnesotans busy and warm.

Around this great state.

Minnesota has three distinct geological environments, creating a state rich in diverse landscapes:   the western plains and prairies, the northern coniferous forest including Lake Superior, and the eastern hardwood forest including the Mississippi River Valley.   Sixty-six state parks preserve some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.   These parks are popular destinations for hiking, camping, biking, swimming, fishing, picnicking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing.

The Metro Area.

The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul are considered the cultural center of the upper Midwest, featuring great skylines, historic architecture, parks, lakes, theatres, museums, and shopping.   In fact, the largest shopping and entertainment complex in the United States is right here, the Mall of America.   The Twin Cities are also home to all major professional sports teams.
